I have been working in the field of autoimmunity for the last 13 years.  My time as an Integrative Dietitian at the Seattle Arthritis Clinic has introduced me to thousands of people with a variety of autoimmune conditions including inflammatory arthritis (RA, Psoriatic), connective tissue diseases, Fibromyalgia and spondyloarthropathies, among others.  As with any condition, everyone is different in terms of what is driving their autoimmunity.  I employ multiple types of therapeutic diets for these conditions based on the individual and their coexisting symptoms.   I always consider the gut as the driving force in most of these conditions, and the interaction between what we eat and how our gut responds and can make an enormous difference in how one expresses their autoimmunity. I also consider other aspects of health that drive the immune response --  stress, sleep, nutritional deficiencies, environmental response, weight factors and more.  These can all have an enormous impact on balancing our immune response.
